Children’s Hospital and Medical Center – Omaha have opened their doors to the Hubbard Center for Children, the nine-story, state-of-the-art facility that almost doubles the physical capacity of Omaha Children’s. Construction began in late 2016 for the $410M expansion. Children’s president and CEO Chanda Chacón shared, “This is a major milestone for us to improve children’s health and be the best place to serve the children of our region.”

On Sunday, August 29th, HTS, with the support from our logistics partners and the amazing Omaha Children’s executive team and staff, moved 59 babies and children into three Hubbard Center departments, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). The patients were moved from the existing Wiebe Tower and the across the street Methodist Hospital via a connected skywalk. A one-of-a-kind experience occurred during the move when the Hubbard Center received a direct helicopter transport admission into their new NICU.

The HTS Move Planning Process supported this pivotal moment in the project, and the experienced HTS team, along with the CHMC staff, executed the plan flawlessly.

Congratulations to the entire team at the Hubbard Center for Children and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center! The care you provide to the babies and children of Omaha is life-changing.
