HTS and a team of clinical experts joined Mount Carmel Health – East on May 17 for Day in the Life, an interdisciplinary training exercise that focuses on staff and facility-readiness for Day 1 of patient care.

In the days leading up to the event, HTS’s Melanie Viquez, Lisa Martinez, and Cindy Smith, with hospital leadership and project superusers, ensured that the new hospital was ready for the event. Two hundred fifty participants played out customized scenarios by testing equipment, validating workflows, and checking system functionality in twelve clinical departments.

Viquez has been the lead project manager since HTS started the engagement. She is very proud of what the participants have accomplished. “Everybody went above and beyond to make the day great. It was such an amazing experience for the staff to be able to walk in their new space,” said Viquez.

The new 5-story tower opens in June with 128 private rooms and a surgical suite of 13 expanded ORs. It was designed with patient safety as a priority and holistic healing spaces geared towards enhancing the patient experience.

The patient move will be on June 2-3.
