On June 1st and June 23rd, the HTS Transition Planning, led by Senior Project Manager, Becky Sales, and Project Coordinator, Lisa Martinez, worked with the Ventura County Health Agency to successfully organize two Day in the Life (DitL) events for Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC). Over 20 HTS Project Managers, Specialists, Coordinators and Support staff were onsite to support the day. The new wing is approximately 220,000 square feet of acute care facilities including: Diagnostics and Imaging, an Emergency Department, Intensive Care and Telemetry, Medical and Surgical Units, Obstetrics, Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, and Surgical Services.
During both events, over 200 clinical, ancillary, and support staff were given the opportunity to run mock clinical scenarios, with volunteer patients, in their new work space. After the first DitL, VCMC leadership worked with the HTS team to identify and remedy any gaps drawn from the participants. By the second DitL, the staff was more confident with their workflows and new equipment.
HTS’s unique approach to interdisciplinary training has been proven effective in validating paths of travel, testing equipment functionality, and evaluating operational plans. By allowing staff to be engaged in their space prior to day one of operations they become empowered to deliver quality care to patients in a safe and efficient manner.
During the next few weeks, HTS will be working with leadership to prepare for building activation and move. HTS is proud to be working with Ventura County on this beautiful facility and are excited to stand by their side for building activation.
